When the road ends, the island begins
Within the shelter of the Family Islands National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Dunk Island lies 4km off the Cassowary Coast township of Mission Beach (between Cairns and Townsville).
Following the devastation of Cyclone Yasi in 2011, Dunk Island is slowly spreading its wings to introduce a new boutique camping and dining experience on The Sand Spit that preserves the natural environment and celebrates the island's cultural significance.
